Responsive Teaching Institute
February 19, 2019 - Washtenaw Intermediate School District.
The institute provides educators with the opportunity to critically reflect on their instructional practices, as well as, school policies to identify practices or policies that promote inequity.
The WISD is proud to continue their professional learning series on culturally responsive teaching. The Responsive Teaching Institute, grew out of what was known as the Responsive Mathematics Institute, because we realize that responsive teaching strategies can be implemented in any classroom. Over the last three years, the conference has also explored culturally relevant leadership practices. The Responsive Teaching Institute is an opportunity for educators to examine instruction from an equity perspective.
It is our hope that the cohort model will allow educators more time to engage with the speakers and develop their critical consciousness about inequities that might be present within their learning environments

Masters of Mobility - Autonomous Vehicle Workshop
October 21-22, 2019 - Washtenaw Community College.
The Masters of Mobility Autonomous Vehicle Workshop provides an introduction to the autonomous & connected vehicle technology that is driving the mobility economy in Michigan.
Teacher participants will build and program a small autonomous vehicle, returning to their classrooms with a robust 3D printed, sensor-enabled mobile platform, additional sensor package, twelve classroom activities, and mission objectives for a competition event. These vehicles will engage students’ curiosity and introduce complex problem solving challenges. The Arduino technology, servos and motors found “under the hood” will provide multiple avenues for problem solving, teamwork and technical skill building. No previous programming experience is required.
The cost is only $25 for STEM Teachers in MiSTEM Region 2!
